BECOME A MEMBER

It is our belief that participation in a local church is not merely an obligation of Christians but is a joyful privilege in which we glorify God through fruitful service in the context of meaningful relationships with other believers. That is why we emphasize church membership at DHBC. Our commitment to God and one another has been encapsulated in our church covenant.

In order to become a member of DHBC, each person must go through the following three steps:

STEP #1: COMPLETE “STARTING POINT”

As the name suggests, it’s the starting point to learning about what membership is all about!

The purpose of Starting Point is to orient those interested in membership to what we believe, our life together, our organization, our mission and values. Starting Point is available in a few formats.

Completing this does not entail commitment to membership nor does it guarantee membership upon completion.

STEP #2: BE INTERVIEWED

Upon completion of the Starting Point Course, those interested in pursuing membership will be interviewed by at least two leaders of DHBC. The purpose of the interview is to hear the prospective member’s profession of faith, to answer any questions, and to help lead them into joyful service in the body of Christ.

STEP #3: BE VOTED INTO MEMBERSHIP

Upon a positive recommendation from the interview, the prospective member will be voted into membership at the next formal church meeting. This vote will be followed by a celebration Sunday where the new member will be publicly welcomed into membership.
